JENNIFER Hawkins has been offered a dream job in a Hollywood film. The former Miss Universe has won a sought-after part in the next Pink Panther movie, starring opposite Steve Martin.
Hawkins was originally offered the lead female role, but her demanding modelling and television commitments left her with no choice but to turn down the plum part.
Her management team is now trying to juggle her hectic work schedule so she can take a smaller role in the big-budget film.
"Its incredible,'' Hawkins told The Sunday Telegraph from Ibiza, where she is filming a segment for the Channel Seven travel show, The Great Outdoors.
"I'm so excited and even though I'm not going to be able to accept the main role they've offered, I hope that we can still find time in November and December to take a smaller role.''
The yet-to-be-titled Pink Panther film will go into production on August 20 and run through until December.
To be directed by Harald Zwart, the production will be based in Paris for two months before moving to Boston in the US for the remaining three months.
Steve Martin will reprise his role as Jacques Clouseau, with the bumbling inspector teaming up with a squad of European detectives who are just as incompetent as him.
Pop star Beyonce Knowles played the female lead in the last Pink Panther film.
"I've never had a role in a movie before but I've done a lot of TV presenting and modelling so hopefully that'll help me,'' the former Newcastle Knights cheerleader said.
"I'm just really keen to give it a go.''
Hawkins was Miss Universe in 2004.
